Description

Key points

  • Continuous stretching of the plantar fascia.
  • Overnight treatment.
  • Stable support in dorsiflexion.

Indications

The NPF8 sock provides overnight stretching of the plantar fascia in a dorsiflexed position to relieve pain associated with plantar fasciitis, and heel spurs, complemented by the use of the PF8 compression sock and a shock-absorbing heel pad during the day.

Precautions and contraindications

Take care not to slip during the night.

Patients with diabetes, sensitive skin or circulatory problems should consult their doctor before use.

Patients with allergies should check that they are not allergic to polyester, nylon or spandex.

Description

The NPF8 night-time sock is made from a fabric comprising nylon, spandex and polyester.

It is divided into three parts:

- the sock itself, with a non-slip area under the toes to prevent slipping during the night.

- the upper part of the sock consists of a wide, comfortable strap to prevent the sock from slipping down, as well as a front loop.

- the third part is a distal strap at the toes, which allows the foot to be pulled into dorsiflexion. One end of this strap passes through the buckle, and by adjusting the tension, the angle of the foot can be set. The sock is secured with a Velcro fastening.

Firstly, ensure the sock is the correct size to avoid excessive compression; the aim is to position the foot in a slight dorsiflexion throughout the night.

The sock should be worn every night until the pain caused by plantar fasciitis or plantar aponeurositis has subsided. This treatment may last several weeks.

Size S/M: Shoe sizes 35 to 40

Size L/XM: Shoe sizes 41 to 46

Instructions for putting on the NPF8 sock.

Step 1:

  • Undo the Velcro straps
  • Pull the sock up to just below the back of the knee.

Step 2:

  • Fasten the Velcro at the top of the calf without tightening it, so as not to apply compression.

Step 3:

  • With the foot raised in a slight dorsiflexion and the toes also raised, fasten the Velcro at the front of the leg to maintain the desired tension by pulling the strap tighter or looser as required.
